Moonless

A bull flees from his herd. The moon goes missing from the sky. The bull runs across this new moonless world, looking for its limit. Instead, he finds different people and their many endeavors, and in them, discovers their limitlessness. He learns of his own penchant for poetry and finds a way to transform his quest.

“Sometimes, the funnest of artistic endeavors are borne out of limitations. I am particularly fond of such works. This is not to discredit the amount of work that has gone into this film, but Chandraheen is most definitely an outcome of having stayed in isolation for many months, where I tried to find a film form that is not dependent on a large production, a lot of capital and a lot of human resource. I learnt what I could of animation by myself through open source software and material. And through that experimentation, the form of Chandraheen was realized. This very much includes all that I couldn’t learn as well, and hence allowed me to create a form within the fringes of animation and live action with what we are now calling “Jugaad” (hack) designing. However, this is also its most delightful feature as it has come to form the world that our protagonist seems to be most comfortable in. With very close (and very few) collaborators, we were able to experiment in many ways while making a home for this story, and it has set me on a path to try much more.”
